The Bonpoint Story

The Cherry Orchard was where it all began. In their family home in France, two sisters were as close as can be – like two cherries shining together on a branch. They were Marie and Dominique, and they were both talented at sewing.

Following her own childhood, Marie married Bernard Cohen and together they became parents to five children. Marie France-Cohen’s life centred around her family, and home life was synonymous with happiness. She once said,

“I have the syndrome of the snail; I cannot imagine happiness without home.”

This passion for home and family led the talented designer and seamstress to found, together with her husband, the first Parisian fashion house dedicated to children. The first store opened in 1975 on Rue de l’Universite. While almost all fashion houses begin in adulthood and make a later transition into childrenswear, Bonpoint was uniqueat the time in Paris, as the first dedicated fashion house for children.

From the beginning it was in line with Marie France-Cohen’s values that children should be respected as children, and be allowed to have a happy childhood.

It is evident that France-Cohen’s own childhood inspired the values behind Bonpoint – the brand’s ‘double cherry’ logo symbolises the Cherry Orchard, and was designed by Dominique, the sister with whom she shared happy times there.

Bonpoint Today

Modern Romanticism: A Perfect Expression of the Western European Zeitgeist

Like the cherries on the branch, Bonpoint has ripened and grown into something wonderful. Today, Bonpoint has 80 retail stores throughout the world and a small network of selective retail partners such as us.

The world’s most famous mothers are loving Bonpoint’s romantic timeless wares; for example, British supermodel Kate Moss commissioned specially-made dresses for her 15 bridesmaids, and First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted shopping at the flagship Paris store. The influence of these famous women with impeccable taste has started a whole new chapter in Bonpoint’s history.

In 2015 Bonpoint celebrated 40 glorious years, by launching its couture collection designed by Christine Inammorato. Bonpoint is expanding into high-fashion, yet always remains dedicated to its origins in childhood.
